The current Public Safety Building was
originally built in 1978 with a second addition in
1991 and a third addition in the 1996. The original
construction of the building was designed as a steel
fabricated building. The third addition was made to
house the Hallie Police Department. Since this time some
other minor remodeling has taken place such as kitchen
remodeling and modifications to the bathroom facilities to
include a shower in the men's bathroom.
Currently the building houses the Fire Department, Police
Department and the Emergency Medical Service. The Fire
Department and the Emergency Medical Services currently has
over 50 volunteers and 8 full-time employees. Two
on-duty Emergency Medical Service staff are required at the
station 24 hours per day 7 days per week. The Police
Department is staffed 24 hours a day and dispatched by the
Chippewa County Sheriff's Office. Generally one patrol
officer is on duty during the day with 2 officers at night.
